Bitcoins & Equity income taxation – switch to a LLC and lower your tax

The end of the year is nearing and hopefully your assets have increased in value during the year. Be aware that in the Netherlands the value of assets and debts for the Dutch equity income tax of Box 3 is set per January 1st of the relevant tax year. If you own bitcoins and/or similar assets that have exploded in value during the year, than this explosive growth in value could lead to a considerable amount on equity income tax eventhough you may want to hold on to these investments and risk a value decrease in the coming year. There is a way to lower your tax burden by contributing your assets as Box 2 capital in your own limited liability company.
